Tower Run František is a unique adventure stair-climbing race that takes competitors into the heart of the skip tower at the former František Mine in Horní Suchá.
This is not a classic running race, but a challenge testing strength, endurance, and determination. Participants will tackle 386 steps to the top of one of the region’s most prominent industrial landmarks, standing approximately 85 meters high. The climb itself takes around three minutes, with runners starting individually at 30-second intervals. Times are measured using modern chip technology, and athletes compete in men’s and women’s categories (more information here).
Registration for competitors takes place via the organizer’s website – the TJ Jäkl Karviná athletics club: https://atletikakarvina.cz/tower-run-frantisek/
Accompanying visitors will have the opportunity to view an exhibition of mining artifacts prepared by the Association of Costumed Miners of the František Mine, located in the fallout shelter at the base of the tower.
